As you know, I now create a range of wedding and bridal jewellery as well as designing and making wedding and engagement rings. I particularly enjoy working closely with individual clients, making that special and totally unique piece of jewellery for each person. This was the case with a commission that I recently completed.

Back in February I exhibited at the Caird Hall Wedding Show in Dundee and met lots of potential clients. This is where I met a client who was interested in getting a bespoke necklace and pair of earrings made, to wear with her wedding dress on her special day.

The client liked the simplicity of my jewellery and admired the idea of combining my designs with her own ideas. So she decided to book a free consultation at my studio for a later date. This gave her time to think about what she wanted.

As wedding shows and craft fairs are normally quite busy and overwhelming, there’s not much time to discuss commissions in depth at the stand. So I always like to have my clients visit my studio in Dundee, if they are able to. It’s always important to have an appointment with each individual client to discuss their ideas further and to find out exactly what they want.

We discussed various design options and realised that she liked my rollered texture silver with the gold leaf detail. This is what I made.

My client was totally thrilled with the outcome, she stated,

“Genna really listened to what I wanted. It’s better than I expected. I’m thrilled!”

This is a totally unique piece for the individual client and is a one off piece so no one else will have anything like it.
